On April 1st, 1999, the map of Canada changed
for the first time in 50 years with the creation of Nunavut Territory.
The Northwest Territories was split and approximately 2 million square
kilometers of the central and eastern arctic became 'Nunavut'.
Climate:
Most
of Nunavut is located above the tree line, and the area is actually an
arctic desert with an average of 4 inches of precipitation a year.
There is generally snow on the ground for 9-10
months of the year and it can snow during any month. Average winter
temp - 28 C, avg. summer temp + 10 C. |
