Welcome to HuskyDog.com, an educational site providing up-to-date information and resources on the Arctic, the Inuit culture and Canada's newest territory - Nunavut.

We are based in Nunavut Territory, (ARCTIC Canada) where we develop our school and classroom presentations, soapstone carving workshops and educational CD-ROM’s about this new territory and the people who live here. Each winter we visit hundreds of schools and conferences across Canada giving students first hand information about life today in a typical Arctic community.

At the same time we have many Inuit artisans in our home community of Gjoa Haven who make excellent soapstone carvings and sewn products like sealskin mitts, caribou boots, and wall hangings and we would like to help these artisans support their families by highlighting their availability on our site.

On April 1st, 1999, the map of Canada changed for the first time in 50 years with the creation of Nunavut Territory. The Northwest Territories was split and approximately 2 million square kilometers of the central and eastern arctic became 'Nunavut'.
